Memorial Portraits
Old black-and-white hanbok photo restored as a color memorial portrait. Hanbok grain, skin texture, and expression all preserved using techniques from 87 independence activist memorial portraits.

70-year-old B&W ID photos, faded hanbok photos, torn family photos — all can become color memorial portraits. Davinci has 32 years of data from restoring 87 Korean independence activists' memorial portraits, and applies it to bring back natural skin tone, eye color, hair strands, and hanbok grain.
Workflow: ① Damage assessment (tears, stains, fading, scratches). ② Resolution restoration (to roughly 300dpi at 11×14 inch memorial print). ③ Colorization (32-year Korean average skin tone, eye color, hair color data + family memory). ④ Hanbok color verification (period-specific preference data + family input). ⑤ Free preview before payment.
This work is a case where hanbok grain and expression were preserved together as a memorial finish. Tones were matched to the original hanbok color; the folds of the otgoreum and the shoulder line were refined to memorial formality. Skin texture was not flattened smooth — texture was kept alive while expression was sharpened.
Restorations from stamp-sized ID photos to 11×14 inch memorials are also common. The smaller the source, the more restoration stages — but the 32-year data carries it naturally.
