An old ID photo taken for a driver's license or passport — a suit and tie, a plain studio background — is one of the easiest sources to move into a memorial portrait. Front-facing, simple background, even lighting: it sits closest to the standard memorial composition. Even if the paper has curled or yellowed, damage recovery cleans it up, and as long as the face is clear it can become a memorial.
The hardest decision is the clothing: keep the formal suit, or change to how they dressed day to day. Studio Davinci shows two versions on a 32-year standard (since 1994) and lets the family decide across four points — usual clothing, the outfit the family pictures first, where the portrait will be kept, and clothing-to-background tone.
This differs from one-click AI compositing, which changes clothing plausibly but leaves shoulder and neck lines mismatched and skin tone out of step with the new fabric. Davinci fixes the original face first, then hand-adjusts shoulder line, neckline, and collar thickness to the photo's tone — same recognizable face, only the clothing changed, with no visible sign of editing.
