Group photos are AI auto-restoration's weakest area. As more people appear, rear faces get fewer pixels, and AI replaces them with "similar generic faces." In a 100-person photo, the back 50 all become similar-looking.
Davinci restores group photos by splitting each face individually. Group photo restoration is the most-requested work over 32 years. 60th/70th birthday family groups, wedding extended-family groups, school entrance and graduation photos, military and school group photos — every face is restored.
This work is a 1960s family photo restored to color. Color was applied by inferring "what would this era, this neighborhood, this family have worn?" — referencing period fabric, skin, and background tones. The option to restore every face in the back row to the same standard is also available at the standard price.
"Ah, that's exactly the color it was" — when the family says that, the restoration is complete.
